Full-Time Experienced CPA

McMahon, Schleifer & Wood, LLC is looking for a full-time experienced Certified Public Accountant to join our team. Ideal candidates would have a passion for servicing existing client relationships, want to build a book of business by networking and social interactions, and has a desire to advance quickly into a principal role within our firm.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership and fiduciary tax returns
Working with clients to collect necessary information to complete the tax return and offer tax planning solutions
Researching tax issues
Attain a thorough technical competency and industry specific expertise through CPE, firm/industry group events, webinars, etc.
Identify and respond to client issues in a timely, accurate, positive and professional manner
Communicate advice and answer questions of other associates relating to clients' accounting and tax situations
Communicate proactively with clients and engagement partners regarding project status, client service opportunities, and other significant matters
Prepare (or review client prepared) general ledger, financial statements, footnotes and required workpapers
Apply GAAP (FASB/SFAS) related to our clients’ specific industries

Compensation will depend upon a number of factors, including experience, education and professional credentials.

Required qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
CPA certification and licensed in Wisconsin
5+ years of tax experience in public accounting (trust/estate tax preparation experience is a plus but not required)
Management and/or mentoring experience with other staff members
Experience making recommendations to management
Excellent communication, networking, and leadership skills
Have a knack for solving issues and confidently bring solutions to the table
Proactive at keeping up-to-date on the ever-changing tax regulations and policies
Proficiency in Word, Excel, QuickBooks (Ultra tax, Fixed Asset CS and Accounting CS experience is a plus but not required)

Full-Time Experienced Accountant

McMahon Schleifer & Wood, LLC is looking for a full-time Experienced Accountant. Responsibilities of this position will include recording transactions for compilation reports, reconciling bank statements, reviewing client bookkeeping records, and providing other comprehensive bookkeeping support. In addition, this position will assist with tax return preparation for individuals and small businesses. Ideal candidates will have an accounting degree with CPA credentials along with 3 plus years of experience.

Experience with Microsoft Office is a must. Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, and other accounting software and tax preparation software are all a plus. Must also have the ability to work independently, be organized, detail oriented, and perform duties with integrity and honesty.
