Senior Manager - Tax
(CPA Preferred)

McMahon, Schleifer & Wood, LLC is seeking an experienced CPA to join our growing tax team. We are looking for a motivated professional who enjoys working directly with clients, providing thoughtful tax planning, and preparing complex tax returns.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to be part of a collaborative team, continue developing their tax expertise, and build long-term relationships with clients. While accounting knowledge is important, this role is primarily focused on tax compliance, tax planning, and client advisory services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and gift tax returns.

  • Meet with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide proactive tax planning throughout the year.

  • Research federal and state tax issues and develop practical solutions for clients.

  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and communicate recommendations clearly and professionally.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, high-quality service.

  • Review staff-prepared tax returns and provide guidance and mentoring as needed.

  • Stay current on changing tax laws and regulations through continuing education.

  • Work collaboratively with partners and staff to provide exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • CPA license in Wisconsin.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Five or more years of recent public accounting tax experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of individual and business taxation.

  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Experience mentoring staff is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks. Experience with UltraTax CS, Fixed Assets CS, or Accounting CS is preferred but not required.

We are looking for a knowledgeable tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, preparing quality tax returns, and helping individuals and businesses navigate an ever-changing tax environment.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys tax preparation but prefers the flexibility of seasonal employment. Whether you're a retired CPA, an experienced tax professional looking for seasonal work, or someone seeking additional tax experience, we'd love to talk with you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and gift tax returns.

  • Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate recommendations to clients and firm partners.

  • Research federal and state tax issues as needed.

  • Work closely with partners and staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax returns.

  • Provide exceptional client service while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.

  • Stay current on tax law changes affecting clients.
